Cogent was contracted to advise, design and deliver a Centrally Managed Control Rooms to meet British Standards (BS5979 Cat II) the control room now delivers Alarm Receiving Functions, Remote Video Services and acts as a Manned Guarding Control Room for a company near the top of the Top 10 providers in the UK.

ACCESS CONTROL

Delivering Access Solutions within NHS Trusts where careful and precise coordination is needed for integration into building management systems, fire systems, intruder systems and CCTV systems without affecting power supplies, daily operations and the smooth running of the Trust.

PUBLIC ENTERTAINMENT & COMMERCIAL

We have recently completed a digital recording upgrade and touch screen mapping solutions for Millennium Point and Think Tank in Birmingham City Centre. The existing 100+ cameras with external detection and audio devices surrounded the site internally and externally, the transition had to be seamless with minimal downtime, the mapping had to be checked, every camera plotted ontot the touchscreen mapping and configured.

A major £1.2M project we are working on this year is for a long standing NHS client to upgrade a medium secure mental health site to comply with Dept. of Health guidelines. This project involved some bespoke design solutions to overcome structural and environmental issues whilst complying with strict guidelines for compliance.

Another recent projects was to design and link functional dome cameras covering several miles of industrial estates in the West Midlands with CCTV and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) to a new central control room, the big problems to overcome were columns in public space, cabling structures and costs and central and remote management and control.

By creating a wireless mesh network we were able to overcome both budgetary constraints and long term revenue issues, typically encountered with leased fibre optic lines from telecomm’s providers. Working closely with the local authority we were able to put a sound business case forward to 'swap' existing street lighting columns for specially designed ones to highways standards that fulfilled the lighting, CCTV and wireless network requirements.
